FIRST ANNUAL
JEN IN JUN
Saturday June 29, 7-9pm
Above is my friend, Jennifer. Isn't she gorgeous? It's an older photo, and maybe she's changed a little over the years, but you know what hasn't changed? Her name.
Jennifer.
Just like mine.
And If you're reading this, probably just like yours.
Jennifer was the most popular name in America from 1970-1984. For 15 years in a row, parents in this country couldn't think of a better name than Jennifer. They chalk it up to Jenny (Guinevere) in the 1967 movie Camelot or to Jennifer in the 1970 movie Love Story. At any rate, there are a lot of Jennifers in this country.
I hated growing up a Jennifer. It felt so NOT SPECIAL. There were 8 Jennifers in my 7th grade class of 300. 3 of us were named Jennifer B. That means 10% of my class was named Jennifer B. Preposterous.
And despite my negativity over all these years of hating my ordinary first name, it finally dawned on me several years ago, though it IS a boring-ass name, know what isn't boring? Jennifers! We're awesome! And I meet Jennifers all the time. We all do! And that makes an instant connection. And that's kinda cool.
I started joking several years ago that I was going to start a club called Jennifer and have parties just for Jennifers. Well,
The Day Has Come!
2024 marks our first annual Jennifer party! It's called Jen In Jun and it will be every June, starting this year. If your name is Jennifer, or you were born Jennifer, or a version of Jennifer (Jen, Jenn, Jenny, Jenni, Jennie, Jenifer), you are invited. The party will be in Dallas/Fort Worth, Saturday June 29 from 7-9pm. Email me for the details. I can't wait to meet us!
